Try this mohair hack to prevent your knits from shedding. But first, a little info about mohair… Mohair comes from the Angora goat and is known for its softness and ability to take on extremely vivid colors (why we love it!). Mohair is a very soft yarn that produces lightweight, warm knits. The only drawback is that it is a super soft, fuzzy yarn that has a tendency to shed.

1. Place your mohair or alpaca sweater inside of a large freezer bag (you wouldn’t want you sweater ending up smelling like your frozen dinner!)

2. Freeze your sweater! Place the bag holding your sweater in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours. Make sure the sweater is lying flat so that you dont create additional wrinkles while it is freezing. *Additional perk! Freezing the sweater will also prevent moth eggs from hatching in the sweater if you have a moth issue.

3. Remove the sweater from the freeze, take it out of the bag and give it a little shake. It will be quite chilly at first so wait a few to throw it on. Freezing your sweater helps to shrink the fibers and prevent pilling and shedding!

4. Throw it on an enjoy the coziness throughout the day. Whenever you remember throw it back in the freezer and repeat.
