In 2017 the stars aligned… I had been working in the fashion industry for just under 10 years, first at Ralph Lauren and then at Figue. At Ralph, I learned the value in building a brand that connects to its customers, that evokes a sort of nostalgia. At Figue, I was not only a part of a start-up being built but I also saw first-hand the need for something different when everything had started feeling the same. This is around the time I started my love affair with pre-loved clothes and purchased a sweater from therealreal with a burst of sequins at the chest. I started wearing this sweater literally every. single. day.
One evening on my walk home from work through the west village I started wondering what it was about this sweater that led me to wear it every day and with everything I owned...I realized that it was because the sweater evoked an emotion in me. It felt cozy and casual but also feminine and show-stopping, it made me feel special. I loved the juxtaposition of something so industrial like a sweater having something so luxe and extraordinary like sequins or embroidery and it got me thinking...
Sure, I could have introduced a brand of sweaters with embroideries but that just didn’t feel like enough. If I was going to make something and put it into this world where there already is too much, I wanted it to have meaning. I craved what I had loved so much at Ralph Lauren, the element of nostalgia that so beautifully evoked emotion. It felt important and also just so engrained in me to offer something heirloom-like, something personal, something that could be passed down and be loved and re-loved.

I hope you love it as much as I do.

Le Lion was born out of a passion for personalization reminiscent of a bygone era and the desire to reestablish what it means to dress with individual sparkle. Using the finest Italian yarn, and knitted in timeless, wearable silhouettes, our sweaters and accessories are adorned with embroidered interpretations of traditional heraldry (a.k.a family crests) and personalized with whimsical monograms and zodiac constellations. At Le Lion, we offer an alternative to “fast-fashion” — luxurious knits that are of everlasting quality, rooted in timeless techniques, and personal to each lioness.
Le Lion is a brand that was built on customer connection and it is our intention to always keep that at the center of the brand. We want to help you commemorate, celebrate, and bring joy to others. While we hope you are able to experience the brand in person at our NYC boutique or at one of our events, we are always here to help make your customization dreams come true via phone or email.
